Today’s dentistry gives you more options than ever when it comes to straightening your teeth. If you have dental issues that used to be corrected with traditional braces, you may be eligible for Invisalign clear aligners. Invisalign technology can help shift your teeth without cumbersome brackets and wires and allow you to smile with confidence.

With Invisalign clear aligners, you will have custom-made, clear trays that snugly fit your teeth and gently move them into the desired position. Often, you won’t have to wear Invisalign clear aligners as long as traditional braces, and they are comfortable and nearly invisible.

When you wear your Invisalign clear aligners, it is essential that you continue your oral hygiene practices to avoid tooth decay and other dental issues. So, how do you care for your teeth when you wear Invisalign clear aligners from Arthur Street Dental?

Brushing with Invisalign

When you remove your clear aligners to brush your teeth, make sure to brush for at least two minutes to remove bacteria and food particles from your mouth. Unfortunately, your toothbrush can’t reach all the areas of your mouth, so that is why flossing is so imperative.

Flossing with Invisalign

Many people think that brushing your teeth is sufficient when it comes to oral hygiene, but the truth is that flossing is necessary to remove plaque, tartar and other bacteria from between your teeth. Here are the steps for flossing your teeth with Invisalign:

  • Rinse your mouth to loosen food particles that remain after brushing your teeth.
  • Remove a piece of dental floss from its container.
  • Wrap the ends of the dental floss around your fingers, leaving a few inches in the middle.
  • Work the floss between each of your teeth, gliding it toward the gumline.
  • Use an up-and-down motion to work the floss between your teeth and gums until you have flossed all your teeth.
