If you recently broke a tooth or are facing a dental extraction, you likely have a number of concerns about the health and appearance of your smile. Our Arthur Street Dental team is here to help you find a solution that works best for you.
Not only do we provide tooth-coloured dentistry, which looks natural, but we also recognise that each patient is an individual who has their own goals for their smile.
Dental crowns and bridges are two common dental restorations designed to protect your oral health. Dr Justin Ward is experienced in creating the type of durable and attractive dentistry that gives patients confidence in how they look and the ability to enjoy the foods they love.
Are you ready to improve your smile with dental crowns and bridges at our Coffs Harbour, NSW dental clinic? The following questions should help you make an informed decision for your oral health.
What is the purpose of dental crowns?
Deep decay or a fractured tooth can result in compromised structure. A dental crown, or cap as it is sometimes called, is different than a filling because it not only seals the tooth, but completely covers the entire tooth. A dental crown absorbs much of the force from chewing.
At our Coffs Harbour dental clinic, we prioritise patient comfort. After completely anaesthetising your tooth, Dr Ward or Dr Staudinger will gently remove any signs of decay along with any damaged tooth structure. They will take a mould of your tooth and match the shade of your smile, so your final restoration blends in with the rest of your teeth seamlessly.
Our trusted dental lab will design your crown based on the mould we provide. While you wait for your permanent crown to be fabricated, Dr Ward or Dr Staudinger will place a temporary crown on your tooth to protect it in the meantime. Once we receive the crown back from the lab, you will come in so our dentists can permanently attach it to your tooth and make any final adjustments to ensure a comfortable fit.
With proper oral care, your dental crown can last 10 or 15 years, or even longer.
